Nutberry Ltd manufactures bellows by the precision roll formed method. This method of manufacturing was originally conceived in the USA at the beginning of the 20th Century. At the time, the machining process was very labour and skill intensive and consequently, expensive. However, with the advent of CNC machining, this manufacturing process has been substantially deskilled, thus reducing the price of making precision roll formed bellows.
The benefit of this method of manufacture is that it produces uniformed work hardening at both the root and the crest of the convolutions, as opposed to hydro forming, where work hardening is uneven and the metal can be thinned due to the traumatic method used to form the convolutions. Due to the superior method of manufacture employed by Nutberry Ltd, any size bellow between 15mm and 150mm can be manufactured.
Nutberry can manufacture up to six ply bellows with the material thickness ranging from 0.13mm to 0.5mm. These sizes apply to the optimum outside diameter. In applications where a reduced or increased diameter is required (depending on whether the bellows has to withstand higher pressures or greater movement), Nutberry will manufacture at no additional cost to the client.
Maximum movement of bellows should not exceed 27% of the bellows total length.
